INNOVA4EU IS INVINTED TO H2020 PRIZE FOR THE EVALUATION OF RENEWABLES INTEGRATION IN BUILDINGS

The European Commission launched HORIZON PRIZE: PHOTOVOLTAICS MEETS HISTORY.

Horizon prize for Integrated Photovoltaic Energy System will reward a European protected historic urban district that has perfectly integrated in its buildings a photovoltaic system to generate and supply electricity for at least 50% of its required electricity consumption. In this context the photovoltaic system should include all the necessary components to supply power within the district.

In Europe, architectural and planning rules for protected historic urban districts impose major technical constraints on integrating renewable energy systems such as photovoltaics. These problems call for innovative and creative solutions for integrating photovoltaics into buildings combining technology with the cultural heritage of a city district. The suggested energy solution must also be adaptable and replicable to other districts, as the prize aims to mobilise and enhance private and public investment for the replication of similar solutions in Europe.

INNOVA4EU has been invited in its capacity as specialist in implementation of innovative solutions in buildings retrofitting in order to evaluate applciations submitted for the prize.
